Spotlight on Iraq
The purpose of this event is to specially focus on Iraqi artists, who, because of the war, are confronted with a specific situation. Indeed, some have gone into exile in Europe, while others remained in Iraq: how have their respective projects been affected by the constraints caused by the war? How have exile and the daily experience of violence "contaminated" their work? How do their divergent artistic paths resonate and spread between the West and the Arab world?
In this perspective, Siwa aims to welcome a young company from Baghdad, Mokhallad Rasem, a director in exile in Belgium and a visual artist, all Iraqis, to provide insights into this country ravaged by violence. The intention will be to compare the viewpoints of artists of different generations, some living in Baghdad, some in exile.
